Mark was elected in 2004 as the Salt Lake County Council member serving from District 4 (southeast Salt Lake City, Millcreek, Holladay, Cottonwood Heights, and northern Sandy).
His priorities for the county are:
- Good, efficient government
- Holding county taxes down to free up money for schools
- Simple, fair and predictable rules and zoning that everyone can count on.
"Starting from these points we will have the resources for the trails, senior centers, libraries, parks and services we all want".
Mark earned a degree in Economics at Brigham Young University where he was Student Body President and has also been an adjunct professor of Public Policy. He earned a law degree from Stanford University and practiced securities and banking law with Latham & Watkins before joining McKinsey and Company as a management consultant.
As CEO of growing Utah company (Tax One) and in more than ten years as a consultant, Mark’s focus has been in helping large organizations to prioritize their efforts and to do more with less. Mark looks to work with county employees and citizens to do the same for county government.
Mark, wife Judy and daughter Lauren live in Holladay.
