Michael H. Jensen was first elected to the Salt Lake County Council in 2000 to represent Salt Lake County Council District Two, Michael has since been re-elected in 2004 to serve an additional four-year term. Michael has served two terms as Chairman of the Salt Lake County Council. Michael also serves on the following boards; Redevelopment Agency, Central Water Conservancy District, Council of Governments and Wasatch Front Regional Council. In the Wasatch Front Regional Council, Michael also serves on the Transportation Committee and chairs the Budget Committee.
In addition to being a part-time Councilman, Michael is the Deputy Chief of the Unified Fire Authority. Michael is also a certified Paramedic and hazardous materials technician on the County's HazMat team. Prior to his work as the Deputy Chief, Michael also served as the Public Information Officer and a Firefighter/Paramedic. Michael is especially proud of his work as a member of Utah task Force 1, Urban Search and Rescue team and their deployment to the world Trade Center 9/11 tragedy. Michael has been an employee of the Fire Department for 8 years.
Michael has a broad range of Education. He has four degrees from the University of Utah including Bachelor of Science in Economics and Political Science and Two Letters of Completion in Public Administration and International Relations. He has an Associate of Science degree from Utah Valley State University as a Fire Paramedic. Michael also has completed his four year course work at the National Fire Academy in the Executive Fire Officer program. Michael has also completed the Harvard Fire Fellowship program at Harvard University. Michael was one of eight picked from two hundred applicants to be accepted into this prestigious program.
Michael enjoys spending time with his family. He is married to Stacie Jensen and is the proud father of four boys and a girl, Mick, Ryan, Josh Kendyll and Jake. He currently resides with his family in Magna. He also enjoys coaching his boys in baseball, football and basketball.
